Securing Prosperity. Strengthening Community.

Hwb Pentredŵr is a project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and Rural Futures and is delivered jointly by Pentredŵr Community Association and Gwlangollen.

The aim of the project is to secure a more prosperous future for local people and strengthen the community by reducing the impact of rural and digital isolation. The project works towards securing community prosperity by developing rural skills and enterprise; addressing rural isolation; supporting digital inclusion and access to services thereby strengthening the community.

Sheep production is central to farming in the valley therefore promoting wool and exploring the wider uses of locally produced fleece is a key element of the work that Hwb Pentredŵr does. This particular focus of the project stems from the rock bottom prices farmers get for the wool clip.

Here at Hwb Pentredŵr we are driving forward our mission to establish a better market for wool produced on the hills surrounding our beautiful valley. Currently costs far outweigh any return for this truly amazing 100% natural, renewable, and biodegradable fibre.

Gwlangollen's project goals are to strengthen the community and improve prosperity for fleece producers and crafters.

Hub Pentredŵr & Gwlangollen’s joint roles in combating rural poverty and the lack of employment opportunities will work towards securing community prosperity by providing:
